South beach

Over the last couple months my weight has fluctuated up and down in a 10 pound range. I've made zero progress in losing weight. I really was getting frustrated.

For my husbands birthday I bought him a pair of jeans. He currently is at the top of his normal size fluctuation. The pants I bought were tight! I decided he really needs to lose weight too. His health is going to be at risk soon.

After talking with the hubby we agreed we'd loosely follow the South Beach diet. I ordered our groceries from Stop and Shop to make sure everything I bought was under the acceptable foods and that I wouldn't be tempted to scratch the whole thing. The food was delivered Saturday and we began yesterday, mostly so I could use the rest of my dough before it went bad. I was a little bummed to find that my food cost was 30% higher than usual, but our health is worth it and phase 2 should be easier on the budget.

I have to admit, while tough yesterday was far more bearable than I had anticipated. I went into three stores and found out how to look past junkfood for the first time in my life. When the food came on Saturday I cooked all the meat and bagged it in the fridge. I basically had four meals pre-made. Tonight those will run out so this afternoon I will be preping two more days worth. It's easier to do all the work at once.

Today has been a little harder. Actual cravings are starting to hit me today. I really want popcorn especially. I'm waiting for the ice cream craving, but as of yet it's not here. I have found when I have a craving if I eat a piece of sugar free candy it curbs it. It's hard candy so the craving is usually gone before it is.

So far, so good, but two days isn't that impressive. Until we're on phase 2 I will continue to use peapod for groceries. I'm thinking right now we're going to stay on Phase 1 for 4 - 6 weeks. I'm open and will evaluate as things progress. From everything I've read because of the amount we're looking to lose we can stay on Phase 1 for up to two months. As the cravings get stronger I'll reevaluate.
